A Home run set of three recommendations for Robert, a cancer patient.

These recommendations are arranged from easiest to hardest. Also, their potential overall effectiveness goes from good to greatest.

  1. Eat a high-quality Keto diet. When you understand the mechanisms behind what causes cancer and most of the lifestyle diseases that we suffer from you will understand the amazing potential the Ketogenic diet has to improve and prevent all kinds of medical problems. A person with cancer would not want to cut corners on their food quality. So everything should be organic, and grass-fed/finished type foods. Some reference books are listed below.
    1. Keto for Cancer, Ketogenic Metabolic Therapy as a Targeted Nutritional Strategy by Miriam Kalamian, 2017 – Covers Keto as a nutritional addition to conventional cancer treatments.
    2. The Alzheimer's Antidote, Using a Low-Carb, High-Fat Diet to Fight Alzheimer's Disease, Memory Loss, and Cognitive Decline by Amy Berger, 2017
    3. Keto Clarity, Your Definitive Guide to the Benefits of a Low-Carb, High-Fat Diet, by Jimmy More with Eric Westman, MD., 2014 – Is an overview of the diet without the specific health focus of the above two books.
    4. Cholesterol Clarity by Jimmy Moore with Eric Westman, MD, 2013 – Provides up to date research information on Cholesterol to correct miss-information currently passed out by most in the medical field.
  2. Add Extended fasting to the safe limit of your body's fat reserves. As good as the Keto diet is to halt the decline and start the healing, extended fasting allows for the body to really start repairing itself! This can also be a good intentional supplemental strategy to go along with chemo-therapy when people typically don't feel like eating anyway. Some reference books are listed below.
    1. Fast Your Way to Health by Lee Bueno-Aguer. I have a 1991 version of this book and it is the best Christian book that I have read on fasting. In 1991 they didn't understand the healing bodily function that fasting was promoting but they really understood how to Fast better than anyone else that I know of.
    2. The Complete Guide to Fasting by Jason Fung and Jimmy Moore, 2016. This is a more modern medical based book on Fasting. I put fasting as being more difficult than diet change but Dr. Fung's experience with thousands of patients is that fasting is easier.
  3. Understand and Internalize what the Bible says about healing. This is the hard one. The first two above recommendations can be implemented in a matter of weeks. This one will likely require months or years depending upon how intentional you are to work on it. I'm still on a journey, but I have come a long way in the last five years. The main difficulty is that you don't know what you don't know. So you likely think that you have a full understanding when, most probably, you are filled with critical misunderstandings of what the Bible says and means. I have several basic recommendations for this arranged from easiest to hardest.
    1. Read books and listen to teachings on healing from people who believe in biblical healing.
      1. Christ the Healer by F.F. Bosworth, First published in 1924. This is a good basic book on Biblical healing
    2. Identify key scriptures on Biblical healing and memorize them. Meditating on scriptures is a good way to work on internalizing the message.
    3. Get around people who believe that God still answers prayers for healing and are actively demonstrating that belief on a weekly basis by praying for those with cancer, the blind, the lame, the sick, etc. This is the hard one because for me it meant leaving a church that I had attended for 20 years. The church I now attend, Lakeside Worship Center, actively believes in healing and there are others in the Elizabethtown community. You need people that have a biblical understanding of healing that they act on, who will support and teach you.
