The Keto Diet in two pages

The Keto Diet in two pages. By Andrew Willis, January 11, 2020, Elizabethtown KY, USA Introduction This is a simple “quick start” introduction to the Keto diet that can get you going successfully. I occasionally have the opportunity to explain the Keto diet to someone and so have asked myself what the best way is to explain it. One suggestion I have given is for people to read the first chapter in a Keto cookbook. Every Keto cookbook that I have seen, has used the first chapter to give a basic explanation of the diet. So that is a relatively easy way to learn what to do in only 30 or so pages. My criticism of Keto cookbooks is that I think they make the diet harder than needed to justify all of the recipes in the book that you just bought. While the recipes taste good, many people don't want to special order ingredients, spend a lot of money on food, or spend lots of time in the kitchen working out new recipes. So my suggestion is to get started with some easy quick cheap...

For Christopher on your graduation from High School

What follows is a list of things that I wish I had known or understood when I was your age. I first wrote this out around 6 years ago for April's graduation and am updating it for you. Life has moved on and it is interesting to note that I have a couple more significant life lessons than I did 6 years ago. I am 46 52 years old which is 34 years older than you. Many of these things I did not understand or learn until I was 30 to 52 years old. My hope and prayer is that these will be useful to you. Don’t sell yourself short. Now when I say this, what I am thinking of was my choice of college Major. I had signed up to study Mechanical Engineering at UK. Then my Dad and another friend at church took me to see the Industrial Technology program at EKU. They suggested that the math in the engineering program might be too much. So I switched to Industrial Technology which has a lower requirement for math and is not an engineering degree. Years later after having graduated and wor...

A Home run set of three recommendations for Robert, a cancer patient.

These recommendations are arranged from easiest to hardest. Also, their potential overall effectiveness goes from good to greatest. Eat a high-quality Keto diet . When you understand the mechanisms behind what causes cancer and most of the lifestyle diseases that we suffer from you will understand the amazing potential the Ketogenic diet has to improve and prevent all kinds of medical problems. A person with cancer would not want to cut corners on their food quality. So everything should be organic, and grass-fed/finished type foods. Some reference books are listed below. Keto for Cancer, Ketogenic Metabolic Therapy as a Targeted Nutritional Strategy by Miriam Kalamian, 2017 – Covers Keto as a nutritional addition to conventional cancer treatments. The impact of God's Word in our life is my big lesson learned in 2018.

The impact of God's Word in our life is my big lesson learned in 2018. God's word washes temptation to sin from us. Psalm 119:9-11 God's word heals us. - Proverbs 3:8, 4:20-22 Ironically this is something that I have seen mentioned many places in the Bible for decades but had not seen in my day to day life. While in college I had memorized Bible verses like Psalm 119: 9 &11 “How can a young man keep his way pure? By guarding it according to your word. 11 I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.” God's word washes away sin's enticement. I also just heard a speaker point out that it heals us and meets our needs for physical provision. So now I am wondering what else God's Word does. But let me back up and summarize the last couple of years for you. About four years ago we changed churches and started attending a more Bible-believing church. It is interesting that our old church said they believed the Bible ...

Principles for Knowing God's Will for your life

Principles for Knowing God's Will for your life. Written out between July 9-15, 2018 by Andrew Willis Note that I use some terms below that you may not fully understand. If you suspect that you are missing some understanding please talk over this with a knowledgeable mature Christian. (See further comments at the end.) God's promises God promises us that we will know his will . That he will direct our paths. (Proverbs 4:6 & 7). Implicit in this verse is that you need to be following God closely to be directed . James 1:5 says “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.” God promises us wisdom if we ask. Ways we hear from God to know God's will From God's word in the Bible God often speaks to us from his word the Bible. However, if you are not reading it and studying it regularly you will not hear this direction. Attending Church services wh...

The balance between God's role and our role in healing

My personal recommendations and understanding of the balance between God's role and our role in healing. By Andrew Willis God's role. - The healing evangelist Andrew Womak has speculated that healing is 75% God and 25% Natural. His explanation is that this percentage is not mentioned in the Bible but it is a way of showing his understanding of the balance between God's role and our natural human efforts at eating well, quitting smoking, etc. If you are seeking God's healing, he encourages the following to “press into” and appropriate God's healing for yourself.  Meditate on and memorize healing scriptures  Read books on Christian healing.  Listen to Christian healing podcasts/sermons by Andrew Womak and others.  Our role – No place in the New Testament was Jesus unable to heal someone. Over and over Jesus is described as healing “All”. There is no record of him saying something like “Oh sorry, you're a smoker, I can't help you.” However, it also make...
